I took my first piano lesson at 4 years of age. My family was extremely musical.  My grandmother built and operated one of the largest music stores in the Southeast all by herself.  She began her musical adventure by “sweet talking” the department store in my hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, to let her play the piano for shoppers while they were in the store.  And you thought Nordstrom was the first one to have this idea!!

My grandmother had three children, two girls and one boy.  My mother became a violinist in the symphony, my uncle played clarinet in the same symphony and my aunt was a cellist in the San Francisco Symphony.  I remember as a small child running up and down the aisles at symphony rehearsals, so, as you can see,  music has been in my blood for a very long time!

I took piano lessons all through my school years and also played oboe in the high school band.  Through those same years, I accompanied many different church choirs and ensembles.

When I went to college, I decided that I would rather sing and so to help pay my way through college, I used my piano skills to accompany voice and instrumental students.  That’s where your sight reading skills get put to good use!

After leaving college, I traveled around the country in various singing groups landing finally in Los Angeles where I became a studio singer, recording mostly radio and TV commercials. I moved to San Diego in 1979, fell in love with the people and decided this was the place for me!  I play the piano for The Church at Rancho Bernardo and continue to do studio work. I have played for various school plays and functions for my children and have found that I enjoy teaching music to children of all ages.  Sharing my love for music with others has become my passion.
